Ok, I’ll be honest, I haven’t been doing very much to look after my diet or health since the beginning of the year. I had mentioned in my Goals for 2017 post that this was something I really wanted to do, not a diet as such but just generally be better at looking after my health. Well, it hasn’t really been going so well. I have good weeks where I will eat my greens and plan out my meals but I also have bad weeks (I’ve more bad than good at the moment!) where I make terrible decisions like cupcakes for breakfast, literally! I’m terrible at skipping breakfast or making bad choices in the morning so this is something I have to change as come 11am I’ve hit a hunger wall.
I’m not one to worry about my weight too much, I have big-ish boobs, hips and a bit of a butt but lately my clothes have been feeling a little snug and I don’t want to have to go up a size. But honestly, I just want to get back into a better eating habit and feel healthier, if the clothes start to fit better and the scales go down (and I can maintain them), well that’s a bonus! I’ve done Slimming World before and it really worked for me. I felt I could eat all the things I like with just better choices and if I put a bit more thought and planning into it. I felt better and I really felt great not only in my clothes but in my own skin.
“Fail to prepare and prepare to fail” is definitely the motto you need to keep in mind when following Slimming World. It’s not a fad diet, it’s just a change to your normal diet, and that’s the mentality you gotta keep. It’s honestly easy to stick to if you get it into your mind that you are in control of it and it isn’t in control of you. For example: you are the one who needs to make the choice of having that midweek Chicken Curry from the Chinese takeaway rather than one you made yourself (or, simply make a better choice if it’s your only option), it’s not Slimming World making you do anything. Like I said it’s not a fad diet, it’s a lifestyle change and it’s easy to follow if you go in 100%.
I’m going to make Monday my weigh in day and I’m going to weigh myself in at home. I’m gonna start by doing a healthy food shop on Sunday’s and get prepping for the week ahead. I’m not going to tell you what the scales say just yet, because really I don’t want to know what they say myself, but I will share my ups and downs each week (I’m sure you’ll understand about the weight thing!). Obviously we all have bad days (I wouldn’t be writing this post if we didn’t!) but if you plan for the bad days, one bad day won’t turn into a bad week.
If you are familiar with Slimming World you’ll know about syns and how many you can have or use each day. I’m following the Extra Easy on for which you can have 15 syns. If you aren’t familiar with Slimming World check it out here – www.slimmingworld.ie.
I try not to use my syns when cooking so have them for when I want to have a treat. I’m allll about the treats and have developed a massive sweet tooth lately so I’m going to do up little bags/boxes with treats for each day (I’ll do a post on these soon). This way I won’t be guessing the syns or eating more syns than I should be.
I know there are many like me out there who have maybe fallen off the ‘New Year, New Me’ wagon so I’m going to be sharing my Slimming World journey if you would like to follow along.
This week I’m kick starting it all off by doing out an easy to follow meal plan which you can find here – www.alittlevintagelady.com/slimming-world-meal-plan-1
I’d love for you to join me on the journey to better living. Let’s do this!
P.S. This post is not sponsored by Slimming World, i’m just a fan!
