Hello lovelies! Next up for Wedding Week here on A Little Vintage Lady is our Wedding Dream Team that helped make it all happen. These are the lovely suppliers who were working behind the scenes to make our dream day a reality. Our magical wedding day wouldn’t have been half as amazing without them…
Our vintage-inspired handkerchief invites were designed and created by the amazing at The Polka Dotted Bee. I’m a big keepsake person and have a memory box full of wedding invitations from weddings we have attended so knew I wanted something special for our own.
I ordered some vintage stamps from Etsy for our parents invites and hand delivered these. I also ordered a set of stamps for our keepsake invite.
My talented Graphic Designer pal Aoife Farrell designed our ceremony booklets, mini flags for our ceremony wands, menus, table plan and table numbers for our plates.
I commissioned the lovely Marina from Pretty Letters to make our calligraphy scroll signs which all had Disney quoted as a subtle nod to our favourite place on earth! She also made pretty place cards for Michael and I.
Hair and Make Up
Hair was by my lovely friend Ceara at Creative Edge who gave me the perfect beehive and makeup was by the amazing Roy Wong and honestly I have never felt so flawless in my life! Both artists did a fantastic job on me, my mum and the gals. Also, I never had to fix either my hair or makeup the whole day long (not even my red lip!) and my beehive even lasted for our next day!
I bought my dream wedding dress in two lunch breaks – true story! I had always known I wanted a vintage or vintage style dress and I knew exactly where I wanted to go to find it – Dirty Fabulous. Caroline at Dirty Fabulous was fantastic and jacked me up (like they say on Say Yes To The Dress!) with a cute veil which made me feel like a true bride.
I also bought a second dress there, a gorgeous cornflower blue 50s prom dress which I was going to change into but I wore it to our wedding breakfast instead. I wore satin pink satin Manolo Blahnik’s from Brown Thomas, pearl earrings and necklace from Jenny Vander and carried an authentic 1950’s Pearl Woolf Brothers lucite bag from Mikelen and a vintage monogrammed hankie from VintageBabyByKay both found on Etsy to finish the look. I also wore a Pandora rose gold bow ring gifted to me by my Mum on my hen party.
The Bridesmaids Dresses
My girls rocked floral custom dresses in original vintage fabrics from Lofty Frocks. The incredible Mandie was so patient with me helping me design these gorgeous bespoke dresses from choosing the best fabrics to the perfect measurements all while based in the UK! These were paired with rose gold sandals from ASOS & 50’s style earrings from Om Diva.
The Groom and Groomsmen
Michael wore a dapper velvet blazer from Penthouse Menswear, with a shirt, bowtie and pants from Moss Bros and Topman and his grandfather’s pearl cufflinks. He also wore a pocket watch and 1950’s Mickey Mouse pin which I gifted to him on the morning of the wedding. The guys looked incredible in ensembles also from Penthouse Menswear.
Virginia Park Lodge was the third venue we looked at. We hit the jackpot as it is so close to our home town which meant we could get married in our local church. The venue is owned by chef Richard Corrigan (he’s cooked for the Queen and the Obama’s!) so food was exceptional. We aren’t massive foodies but many of our friends and family are so we knew we were in good hands with Richard. Deirdre who is Richard’s sister looked after us in the lead up the the day, was fantastic to deal with and no query was too big or small. The staff on the day were wonderful and treated us like rock stars all day long.
Mum and I looked after the flowers in the church and the amazing Jill from The Stables Flower Co. looked after the reception. She helped bring my Pinterest boards come to life and we still have guests talking about the floral installation in the venue! I had told Jill that my grandad had grown sweet pea in his garden and she made sure to include is as a beautiful nod to him, it smelt like I was like carrying a garden! I also added charms from Weddingbouquetcharms on Etsy that held pictures of my Dad as well as mine and Michael’s grandparents who have passed away.
Jasmine from The Artful Bakery made all of my wedding cake table dreams come true! She created three different cakes and each tier was a different flavour – Vanilla Funfetti with Pink Rosewater and Raspberry buttercream, Tropical Coconut with Lime Zest buttercream, Chocolate Fudge cake with Ferrero Rocher filling and chocolate buttercream, Vanilla sponge with Raspberry conserve and Madagascar Bourbon Vanilla buttercream, Lemon Lavender cake with Blackberry buttercream. She also hand painted the daintiest macaroons, made lavender mini meringues, the dreamiest floral topped cupcakes and rose marshmallows. I’m dreaming of just a bite now…
Joanna my talented baker bridesmaid also made a wonderful chocolate biscuit cake for Michael as he doesn’t really like cake! Which was kinda hilarious as we had so many. He didn’t even get to have a bite as it was demolished so fast!
Dorothy the VW Camper from Volks Weddings brought the bridesmaids, Mum and I to the church and then the bridal party to the venue. Michael and I drove away as newlyweds in my very own Nissan Figaro named Figgy chauffeured by our groomsman Dean! The Kate Spade Just Married car decal came from Hippenings.
Rings and Things
Stonechat Jewellers designed our wedding rings using my mum and dad’s and grandparents’ wedding rings and constructed mine to fit around my beautiful Opal engagement ring from Weir and Sons and to read Happily Ever After inside. My beautiful ring box came from The Mrs Box.
Mum and I had fun hunting down all the vintage elements such as vintage linen, teapots, teacups, plates, cakestands, bottles as well as vintage glass and brass candle holders and bits of furniture over the few months beforehand. I also picked up some fun bit and pieces from BHLDN, Project Party and Party Parlour. We spent the day before dotting them around the reception and having fun putting everything into place. I made a ribbon backdrop for those all important selfies and a vintage wallpaper backdrop for our floral inspired table plan with the help of Michael, Mum’s partner and Mum. On the day my mum, my bridesmaid Joanna and Abigail Bell from PETAL Studio made sure everything was in it’s perfect place.
If you love the look of our wedding My Mum and I are now styling weddings and events under the name Sweet Pea and Violet. You can check out www.sweetpeaandviolet.com for more of our work or drop us a line at email@example.com. We’d love to help you make your dream Pinterest boards come to life!
We have such a random and eclectic taste in music! We choose the incredible Brendan McCahey for our ceremony and I walked up the aisle to Intro by The XX, we signed the register to Moon River (by Frank Sinatra) and I Wanna Grow Old With You (by Adam Sandler) and walked down the aisle to Sweet Love (an original song by Brendan). At our reception we danced to Be My Baby by The Ronettes for our first dance before 90’s tribute band Smash Hits filled the floor. We follow these guys around the country when they play gigs with our pals so we just had to have them for our wedding! For the drinks reception a darling, pastel vintage caravan called Miss Ellie entertained guests as a photo booth!
The Photographers and Videographer
We choose Lou and Louie from We Are The Lous (aka the photo ninjas!) to capture our day and boy did we choose well! They provided us with the most magical memories of our day that we will cherish forever. I know these photos will look just as gorgeous when we are pulling them out to show our grandkids in the future.
The wonderful Tegan from Roost Film Co. captured our day so perfectly on film that gives me goosebumps everytime I watch it! You can see our wedding film here – www.onefabday.com/ie/virginia-park-lodge-vintage-wedding
Feel free to ask me anything else you’d like to know about our day. I’d be more than happy to answer them!
